Founded in 1946 by three New England friends, the Sebago® Company first released a hand-sewn penny loafer inspired by Indian moccasins and featuring a patented welt construction. This shoe was a huge success. Building on its quality and style, Sebago® expanded rapidly in the 50s and 60s, including international exports. In 1970, they launched their iconic 'Dockside' boat shoe, known for its handsewn moc construction, slip-resistant rubber sole, and non-corrosive brass eyelets. The Docksides have been worn by celebrities like Pharrell Williams, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, and Kate Middleton.
